Colorguard

The colorguard combines dance, drama, and performance – with the manipulation of flags, sabers, and rifles – into a pageantry performance.

This outstanding performing group is an intricate part of the fall season marching band program and is open to all students 9th-12th grade.

In the winter and spring seasons, students are given the opportunity to participate in the indoor colorguard. Rehearsing twice during the week, the indoor colorguard often travels to venues across the state and region on the weekends to participate in pageantry theater competitions incorporating a wide range of visual performance arts and choreography.

The indoor colorguard is a 2x WGI Scholastic A & Regional A South Brunswick finalist.

The colorguard and indoor colorguard, under the direction of Ms. Leighann Keegan, performs with the marching band at all appearances and competitions. The indoor colorguard performs at MAIN (Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network) and Winterguard International regional and national events. Visual effects are important elements in competition scoring and high scores require a competent and highly rehearsed colorguard.

The members of the colorguard learn responsibility, time management and are very high achieving academically! Marching as a whole looks excellent on a college application.

The Penncrest High School Colorguard is currently only open to Penncrest students, but Springton Lake Middle School does have a colorguard as well!
